

Mahaperiyava, also known as Sri Chandrasekarendra
Saraswati Swamigal, was the 68th Shankaracharya of the
Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, one of the four primary
spiritual seats (Peethas) established by the great
philosopher-saint Adi Shankaracharya in India.
Mahaperiyava was born on May 20, 1894, as Swaminathan
in a devout Brahmin family in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu,
and ascended to the Peetham at the young age of 13 in 1907,
taking the spiritual name Chandrasekarendra Saraswat
